Our beautiful marine life such as fish, turtles marine mammals and sea birds are heavily endangered by our discarded plastic debris. They can ingest, suffocate and can become tangled in plastic bags and unwanted fishing nets. Single use plastics have turned our beautiful oceans into a death trap.
At current rates plastic is expected to outweigh all the fish in the sea by 2050. Studies estimate there are now 15–51 trillion pieces of plastic in the world's oceans. The problem is growing into a crisis. Unfortunately, plastic is so durable that the EPA reports “every bit of plastic ever made still exists.”
